Sam is a qualified Industrial Designer and
Shipwright from Western Australia. His background includes studies in Boat Building and Business Commerce in Western Australia, further honed by his
pursuit of Industrial Design at UNSW in Sydney.
With 15 years of experience as a Shipwright, including recent
work on super yachts across Sydney, Queensland, and Western Australia, Sam has
a broad understanding of construction materials and methods. As an industrial
designer, he specializes in sculptural furniture that blurs the line between
conventional and unconventional materials.
Sam's recent focus has shifted towards sustainable design, a
change from his prior work with toxic materials in the Marine Industry. This is
evident in some of his latest works, utalising abundant renewable resources
such as sea water and beach sand to construct furniture.
Currently residing in the Netherlands, Sam works under dutch designer Dirk Vander Kooij at Kooij. Employed as a Desiner/Maker Sam assists in the development of inovative manufacturing methods and sustainable design.
