Child’s Play is predominantly driven by form over function. Its directional segments lead the eye from the seat through to the back implying a sense of motion. The heavy Blackbutt logs are split and machined into uniform segments before being glued together. Inspired by a coworkers son “lewy” the chairs dimensions are that of a medium sized child. Lewy would often come into the work shop constantly moving and observing. His playful and dynamic nature inspired the creation of something that would embody his character, while also offering a place to sit if, on the rare occasion, the mood struck.
